Summary: Family as the subject of the evangelising mission of the Church
Christian family, since it is born out of marriage - a picture and participation in
loving covenant of Christ and Church – through love of spouses, dedicated fertility,
unity and fidelity as well as loving co-operation of all members of a family reveals a
living presence of the Saviour in the world and a real nature of the Church. It is called,
as Ecclesia domestica, to build the Kingdom of God through participation in life and
vocation of the Church. It participates, as the whole Church, in a prophetic, priestly and
kingly mission of Jesus Christ. When talking about an evangelising mission of a family
one has to see it as a faithful and evangelising community. A community involved in
the dialogue with God and ready to serve men. Apostolic vocation of a family is rooted
in the holy baptism and through the grace of the sacrament of marriage it receives
power to transmit faith to sanctify and transform contemporary men. Depending on
the extent to which a family receives and accepts the Gospel and gets matured in its
faith, it becomes an evangelising community. Therefore in a family aware of this task
all its members evangelise and are evangelised. Family becomes a preaching body for
environment it lives in. The leading idea of such concept is to aim at crystallising in a
family an awareness that it is responsible for itself, children and their religious upbringing
and for the future of the nation and the Church.

Summary: Between Ethics and Morality, that is the Polish Family on Cross-roads
We find many principles treating to marriage and family in the ethics of catholicism.
Belong to them the conception of the family as natural community leaning at the man
and woman marriage, and simultaneously as God’s institution, also holy and sacramental,
leaning on faithfulness, founding unity and the indissolubility of the marriage and
responsably open on fertility. Principles these in the diverse degree are taken over and
realized by the Catholic Polish society. It is divided deeply: on the part identify in the
Catholic ethics and practising her in the moral sphere (that is social behaviours) and
second - in the smaller or larger range questioning these principles and acting pragmatism
mainly.

Summary: Meaning of a traditional piety in a ministry among Polish families abroad
While surveying Polish emigration communities it can be observed that one of the
most important motifs of creating national communities abroad is, apart from a sense
of security, willingness to cherish Polishness, which exhibits a value system specific
for our nation as well as a way of experiencing certain values. Poles do it in various
ways: most of all by preserving their native tongue, staying faithful to traditions of
their family homes and celebrating anniversaries from the history of our native land
important for the national identity.
Poles leaving the country organised their religious life in their new dwelling places
and based them on a spiritual and cultural heritage of Poland. Religious life of Polish
emigrants is full of elements of a traditional Polish piety which is based on a national
culture. Especially emigrants in the first period of settling, who do not have a sufficient
command of a language of a new country are especially attached to forms of piety
brought from their homelands. These traditions demonstrate their identity and allow
them to keep dignity.
In Polish parishes abroad elements of our native christian piety still play an important
role in integrating fellow countrymen and their families with their faith and a heritage
of Polish piety. Since they are more adjusted to mentality, culture and our religious
tradition , the traditions remain in a close relation to emigrants’ important events of life
as well as a liturgical year and other circumstances (for example political ones). They
are also an important element of a ministry among Polish families abroad.

Riassunto: Modelli culturali dominanti della morale familiare
Il presente articolo e intitolato: “Modelli culturali dominanti della morale familiare”.
La principale prova della ricerca e mostrare la bellezza della vita familiare nel
cristianesimo. Si tratta anche delle radici culturali dei valori della famiglia. La cultura
– sono i valori, ed i valori morali sono il problema nodale nel mondo di oggi. La colpevole
mancanza dei valori morali e il male piu grande, peggiore della sofferenza, della
morte, peggiore della caduta delle sviluppate culture. L’articolo e diviso in tre parti.
La prima parte presenta i modelli umanistici della vita familiare. Ad esso appartengono
i modelli piu piccolo come il modello personalistico, i modelli assiologici ed i modelli
fenomenologici. Nella seconda parte sono presentati – diffusi nel mondo odierno –
i modelli pragmatici. In questi si dovrebbe includere i modelli utilitari costruiti sulla
base del pensiero di D. Hume e di A. Claude Helvetius. Nella terza parte sono presentati
i modelli anti-umanistici. Si elenca oggi in questo cerchio di pensiero soprattutto
anty-life mentality.

Summary: Family ecology from the perspective of biological evolution
Family studies taking into account the evolutionary paradigm have been intensively
developed since the 1970s. They mainly represent two branches of knowledge: human
behavioural ecology and evolutionary psychology. This article presents their specific
and unilateral approach to the phenomenon of human family, consisting in far going biological
reduction of interrelations among family members. Causes and consequences
of this pure biological approach were discussed in connection with problems related to
family establishment, procreation and care for children.

Summary: Modern Family Issues in the Light of the Common Documents of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and of the Holy See
The official Catholic-Jewish dialogue began after the publication by Second Vatican
Council of the Declaration on the Relationship of the Church to non-Christian Religious
Nostra Aetate. At present, there are two official bodies which are responsible for the
common relationship, such as the International Catholic-Jewish Liaison Committee
(established in 1970) and the Jerusalem-Vatican Committee (created in 2002). The last
one elaborated some documents concerning the problems of the collaboration in the
fields of social issues, also of modern family. In the document published in 2003 the
Jerusalem-Vatican Committee stated that the institution of the family stems from the
will of the Almighty, who created human being in the image of God (Gn 1:27), and it
strongly emphasized its opposition to same-sex unions. In the document elaborated in
2007 the Committee said that it was the family, in a specific way, which is responsible
for education of the future generations towards respect for human dignity and freedom
of religion.

Summary: Parental rearing and child personality
In this article author compares results of research on relationship between parental
rearing and child personality, made in Japan and in Poland. Sex of the child and of the
parent is taken into consideration. Polish research, made by M. Plopa (2008) shows,
that both daughter and son personality is influenced more by mother’s than by father’
rearing. Additionally, more relations between parental rearing and child personality
were found for boys than for girls.
In Japanese research, made by Nishikawa and collaborators (2011), relation between
parental rearing and psychical problems of the child (aggression, anxiety, depression,
withdrawal, somatic problems) was analyzed. It has been found, that there are
more strong relations in case of girls.
Regarding results of both research, author of the article formulates hypothesis, that
boy’s personality in comparison to girl’s one is more influenced by parental rearing.
Nevertheless, this may not be true in case of psychical problems of the child. The results
obtained by Plopa and Nishikawa with collaborators may constitute introduction
to next research analyzing relation between parental rearing and child personality with
regard to sex.

Summary: Consequentialism and Selected Ethical Issues of Marriage and Family Life
In the last decades, we have been witnessing in the public forum, especially in
the media, arguments of various proponents of abortion, euthanasia, contraception, in
vitro fertilization and other ambiguous procedures, which are dangerous to the healthy
moral life of marriage and family. The line of arguments of those who advocate in
favor of these procedures uses many characteristic expressions: “greatest net good”,
“lesser evil”, “best consequences”, “smallest net harm”, “greater balance of good over
bad that could be expected from any other alternative”, “maximization of good”, etc.
Undoubtedly, when we want to find any theoretical foundation for these expressions,
we are to recognize their consequentialist roots. Consequentialism in its simplest form
claims that the right action is the one which will produce the best overall outcome. All
different forms of consequentialism (utilitarianism included) share a very attractive
idea that what people have to do is to “minimize evil and maximize good”. However,
consequentialists are not able to define what is good. Deeper analysis shows that the
consequentialist theory is implausible for it is too simple and absurd. It does not recognize
the psychology of human action and the possibility of changing a decision by a
moral agent. This article proves that without a foundation in metaphysics, anthropology
and a clear hierarchy of values crowned with the supreme value of human dignity,
human actions are exposed to the unjustified arbitrary decisions which are able to destroy
a sound marriage and family.

Riassunto: Risposta pastorale della Chiesa alla Familiaris consortio
Nata 30 anni fa l’ esortazione Familiaris Consortio ben presto è stata riconosciuta come la magna carta per la pastorale delle famiglie. Nella prima parte, ove
sono descritti le ombre e lo splendore della famiglia, si richiama ad una ricerca e una conoscenza di tutte queste realtà famigliari che incidono sulla famiglia d’oggi.
Alcuni fenomeni come ad esempio la politica del gender, la diffusione dei contraccettivi e quelli di carattere abortivo e la crescita delle tendenze di prosvillupo si prosppettano come le sfide essenziali per la pastorale d’ oggi. In questo contesto è necessario che il servizio pastorale della Chiesa per le famiglie poggia sul fondamento della verità che è Gesù Cristo. I soggetti di questa pastorale sono in prima linea le famiglie, ma anche la comunità della Chiesa, le persone consacrate ed i laici. Tra gli elementi fondamentali della pastorale per le famiglie ci sono tra l’altro: la cura per una preparazione adeguata dei giovani al… Matrimonio, la promozione dei metodi naturali della procreazione, la naprotecnologia, diverse iniziative pro life, ed anche un rafforzamento delle strutture di ricerca al. Servizio del matromonio e la famiglia, ad es. i diversi tipi di studi sulla famiglia.

Durante il V Sinodo dei Vescovi nel 1980, dedicato alla famiglia cristiana e stato
costatato un estremo bisogno della presenza pastorale della Chiesa per sostenere le famiglie.
Il Sinodo ha espressamente riconosciuto anche l’utile apporto di associazioni
di spiritualita, di formazione e di apostolato. Questo contibuto mette in evidenza le
pedagogie (in quanto stili di formazione) di alcuni movimenti e comunita ecclesiali
presenti nella arcidiocesi di Katowice mostrandone in quanto una risposta reale ed efficace

Summary: Family studies in the perspective of U.S. higher education. Outline description
At the beginning of article describes how to create the Family Studies in American
society. Describes from the beginning, because until the twentieth century, the history
of Family Studies and include author Ernest R. Groves. To be able to describe where
the Family Studies are in U.S. higher education was necessary to show in detail the
kinds of universities and describe what degrees you can get there. Place of Family
Studies has been shown from the perspective of several major universities. These are
schools where the Family Studies are very popular, studying them very large number
of students in the various programs.

Analyses dealing with “the beauty of family life” begin with the programming anxiety
concerning contemporary development scenarios in relation to marriage and family.
Anyway, such is an approach to the problem in exhortation Familiaris consortio.
The reason of the anxiety are entries of genderism emerging from many contexts, the
movement recognizing “socially or culturally constructed roles, independent of gender”
– with the simultaneous rejection of substantive values of biological sexuality.
Relation to the “collision” of family with gender announces the approach to confrontation
of the two realities.
The idea of gender grew out of real social needs, out of the experience of inequality
and not often of discrimination against women, which was carried out with the tacit
acceptance, and even with explicit consent. No wonder that reaction to the negative
historical experience takes sometimes extreme forms. Undertaking the problem seems
justified because of the programming promotion of genderism on a global, European
and national level. Since reliable knowledge is the right way to tackle the problem, the
author regards its transfer as the aim of this work.
The starting point is an outline presenting marriage and family in a Catholic perspective,
with their inalienable characteristics, with reference directly to the exhortation
put in the spotlight. The next step is to draw attention to competing concepts of
family, which are the basis for acceptance of entries of genderism. The presentation of
the idea of gender – historical, substantive and anthropological - should clearly show
a difference of view of marriage and family in relation to the Catholic perspective and
destructiveness of impact of the ideology on family. The conclusion is to show the position
of family in the gender world and the impact of this ideology on life and situation
of women themselves.

Riassunto: Gravidanza senza la donna incinta – ectogenesi e un tentativo della sua verifica bioetica
Questo articolo presenta il tema dell’ectogenesi che analogamente alla maternita
surrogata, scinde la gestazione dalla procreazione, introducendo una ulteriore artificializzazione.
L’ectogenesi riguarda le possibili future tecnologie (adesso predizioni futuristiche,
fantasione) di una gravidanza extracorporea in un utero arttificiale. Ci sono
due metodi dell’ectogenesi: parziale quale inteverrebbe dopo una proma fase di vita intrauterina
e altra e l’ipotesi di una gestazione artificiale completa – dalla fecondazione
al parto. Dietro di progetto di ectogenesi non c’e solo una finalita terapeutica: si tratta
di un progetto che presuppone una de-natruralizzazione, de-biologicizzazione e de-sessualizzazione
della riproduzione aprendo ad una artifilizzazione completa del nascere.

Zusammenfassung: Glück von Adoptionseltern trotz ihrer Verlassenheit
Jedes sechste Ehepaar kann gegenwärtig keinen natürlichen Nachwuchs erwarten.
Adoption ist eine immer öfter angewandte Lösung des Problems, immer mehr akzeptiert
auch von der Kirche. Der Beitrag ist gestützt an empirischen Untersuchungen
der Kinder adoptierenden Mütter. Beschrieben wird das Gefühl der Einsamkeit, die
Menschen in ihrem Milieu erfahren, die Kinder adoptiert haben. Diese Isolierung ist
mit einem Stress verbunden, der mit seinen erfahrenden Folgen auf die ganze Familie
einwirkt. Gleichzeitig aber weisen Untersuchungen auf das empfindende Gefühl einer
ehelichen Genugtuung, Erfüllung und der Zufriedenheit hin.

Summary: Maleness in Stu Weber’s and John Eldredge’s Conceptions – the Attempt of the Synthesis
The man’s role is not clearly defined in the contemporary world. The article shows
conceptions of understanding maleness contained in two books: Tender Warrior written
by Stu Weber and Wild at Heart written by John Eldredge. Both American authors
are aware of the present crisis of maleness and in quest for the essence of the maleness
they use a lot of sources, the Bible is the most important among them. Both authors
also believe that every male has definite natural predispositions. Only if he correctly
recognizes and realizes them, he will find fulfillment and happiness.
The article contains the attempt of the synthesis of both conceptions. The maleness
description is showed as the combination of desirable features of the person and forms
of interpersonal relationships, which are established by the man. These features are:
power, faith and wildness, while relationships are: marital love, paternity, friendship.
The analysis concerns directions of the mature maleness development as well as real
risks of this process.

Summary: Family in the European Union – a socio-political sketch
The article describes social phenomena related to a European family in the perspective
of a political practice. The first part describes the assumptions of Polish family policy
and proves a necessity of building it around a reliable diagnosis of the current status
and development trends of the contemporary European family. Following the above,
the author, on the basis of data from research centres (e.g. Eurostat) and independent
institutions (e.g. Institute for Family Policies) presents a demographic state of a family
in the European Union at the end of the first decade of the 21st. century. The most
dangerous ones mentioned in the article are as follows: ageing of societies, changes in
a family structure, changes in the sphere of job and influences of a globalisation. Due
to an insufficient, according to the author’s point of view, social and political response
provided by a family policy, the article lists the most important suggestions regarding
its desired form in the EU and Poland.
