PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL CONDITIONS IN PREACHING THE WORD OF GOD.
Summary
God speaks to a man and at the same time speaks to him through the other person. We are, therefore, within the realm of interpersonal relations. Hence while talking about preaching the Word of God one has to pay attention to circumstances and rules of interaction of the preached Word of God on a listener’s reason, will and emotions as major receptors of the content of the church preaching and at the same time as factors of the act of a personal faith. Such a preaching of the Word of God results from its purpose, securing both the personalistic and ecclesiastical character of the preaching. Therefore in the preaching of the Word of God a vital role is performed by a social community. Experience shows that even a solid intellectual and religious formation does not suffice for a proper shaping of the attitude of faith, if one does not have a proper support in an environment of one’s life. Hence the preaching cannot escape sociological conditions and be restricted only to transmitting an orthodox Christian teaching. Preaching the Gospel in the community of the faithful should be supported and intensified by a communal experience of this church community of faith.

Methodology of promoting the Spirituality of Communion in the Light of “Novo millennio ineunta” and the letter of John Paul II to priests for Holy Thursday 2005, “A Formula of Consecration: A ‘Formula of life’”
Summary
At the close of the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 in his letter Novo millennio ineunte John Paul II pointed at pastoral priorities and paths to follow (compare: NMI 29-41) to make the Church the home and the school of communion. He issued a strong warning against the temptation of activism: “Before making prac-tical plans, we need to promote a spirituality of communion […]. Let us have no illusions: unless we follow this spiritual path, external structures of communion will serve very little purpose. They would become mechanisms without a soul, ‘masks’ of communion rather than its means of expression and growth” (NMI 43). It follows that promoting the spirituality of communion should be “the guiding principle of education wherever individuals and Christians are formed, wherev¬er ministers of the altar, consecrated persons, and pastoral workers are trained, wherever families and communities are being built up” (NMI 43). According to the pastoral priorities defined by the Pope, the perspective of sainthood can be related to the attitude of “believing”; the priority of prayer can be associated with “remembering”; the sacrament of reconciliation with “forgiving”; listening to the word of God with “receiving”; Eucharist with “giving thanks”; the priority of grace with “giving”; preaching the word of God with “going out”. Similarly, following the suggestion made by John Paul II, a tool to implement the spirituality of com¬munion can be “a formula of life” hidden in the words of the consecration: “to take bread in one’s hand” is to let the Holy Spirit lead us especially in prayer; “saying the blessing” means to listen; “broke” means to be purified; “giving bread away” means to evangelize; “this is my Body” means to create communion; “take this, all of you, and eat of it” means to spread mercy; “do this in memory of me” means to love by the love of Christ and in the power of the Spirit of God. Following the said attitudes, we have become promoters of the spirituality of communion on the basis of which we are able “to make the Church the home and the school of communion” (NMI 43).

IL RAPPORTO FRA LA PREDICAZIONE DELLA PAROLA DI DIO E L’INDENTITÀ SACERDOTALE.
Sommario
Ogni sacerdote, grazie al sacramento dell’ordinazione, diventa icona viva del Cristo. Durante la celebrazione liturgica agisce in persona Christi. Grazie al carattere sacramentale che possiede sin dal giorno dell’ordinazione ha un rapporto particolare con Cristo e lo Spirito Santo, partecipando all’unico sacerdozio del Nuovo Testamento, che è quello di Cristo. Tale fatto ha un significato profondo per la vita e la missione delle persone ordinate. L’aspetto partocolare di tale missione, e cioè l’annuncio della parola di Dio, non può essere letta soltanto sul piano di una attività esteriore, bensì scaturisce dal servizio della Chiesa. La predicazione equivale al segno del sacerdozio nuovotestamentale – vissuto e sperimentato. Anzi, la predicazione manifesta l’identità stessa del sacerdote. E’ il motivo, per cui ogni sacerdote-predicatore deve essere cosciente e responsabile della necessità di coniugare ogni giorno la sua vita e il servizio fatto a nome do Cristo e per il bene di tutta la Chiesa, soprattutto deve collaborare alla diffusione della Parola di salvezza. E’ necessario pertanto che ogni sacerdote-predicatore interiorizzi sempre più l’atteggiamento diaconale nel suo quotidiano. Un valido esempio di diaconalità può attongerlo dalla Bibbia, la quale mette in luce il servizio profetico delle persone scelte da Dio. Esse esprimono un grande desiderio di far avvicinare i popoli a Dio; profeti bruciano dello zelo dell’annuncio della Buona Novella, sono pronti a dare la vita per la Parola predicata. E’ chiaro che ogni forma di trascuramento dell’opera della predicazione della verità salvifica fa sempre pensare a una crisi di identità sacerdotale.

HERMENEUTICS OF THE WORD OF GOD IN LITURGY.
Summary
Bible and liturgy as sacred texts are basic, although not the only ones, sources of homilies. These sources should be analysed as closely related with one another. Homily, mystagogic in its nature and function, is preaching the mystery of Christ revealed in the Holy Scripture and celebrated in the liturgy. For in „here and now” of the liturgy redemptive events revealed in the Bible are being actualised. To a considerable extent the Bible was written for liturgical purposes. Therefore liturgy is the major exegetic place of the Holy Scripture. A preacher interpreting holy texts should be aware of this mutual intertwining of the Bible and liturgy. Liturgical hermeneutics of the Word of God takes into consideration both a sense and functions of biblical texts within liturgy. To achieve this aim the content of the Bible is compared to the meaning of other biblical texts, euchological texts as well as the meaning of signs and liturgical symbols. The Word of God in liturgy, however, is interpreted above all in the light of the mystery of Christ celebrated in the cult. The redemptive mystery itself receives, on the other hand, deeper light and understanding from the proclaimed Word of God. Hermeneutical technique analyses as well the way biblical texts are distributed within a liturgical year. Attention is drawn on this occasion to the rules of interpretation of the Word of God in liturgy, which are as follows: chrystocentrism, dynamics of acts of the Holy Spirit, ecclesiality, particular needs of listeners.

INVISIBLE FACTORS OF INTERACTION AT THE PULPIT. Context for the preacher.
Summary
In his article the author points at a triple context in which preaching takes place and to which a special attention should therefore be drawn. In the process of preaching an important role is played by a social-and-ecclesial as well as media environment, personal factors of a preacher and an attitude of listeners to whom preaching is addressed. When it comes to issues affecting environment, the author analyses opinions obtained while diagnosing a cultural heritage, impact of mass-media on language as well as internal Church aspects. A preacher should, according to the author, have the following skills: ability of a matter-of-fact attitude towards life problems, ability to deal with methodology issues, richness of personality features, ability to deal with institutional issues. A preacher with the above mentioned skills will be able to come to terms with a temptation of activism, idealising many issues and use of methods based on fear.

Dans ses catéchèses "Le Saint-Esprit dans la vie intérieure de l'homme" le serviteur de Dieu Jean Paul II présente l'importance de l'action de l'Esprit Saint en faveur de l'homme. Selon Lui il s'agit d'un mystère très riche. Parmi ses traits essentiels il faut compter le fait que l'Esprit habite l'homme d'une manière active et efficace. En vertu de cette grâce le chrétien devient dépositaire et médiateur du Saint-Esprit: il reçoit le salut lui-même et participe à ce mystère en faveur des autres. Ainsi le Souffle de Dieu mène vers la plénitude de la vie dans l'éternité et enrichit ceux qui sont en train d'être sauvés en les remplissant de ses dons divers et nombreux. Parmi ces dons, qui sont tous constitutifs pour le salut, le serviteur de Dieu Jean Paul II présente d'une manière particulière: la prière, la foi, l'amour, la paix, la joie et le courage chrétien dont l'enchainement donne une caractéristique profonde et en même temps fort impressionnante de l'action de l'Esprit, de la spiritualité chrétienne, de la rencontre entre Dieu et l'homme.

SILENCE AND CONCENTRATION IN PREACHING THE WORD OF GOD.
Summary
Analysis of both biblical and liturgical texts leads to a conclusion that silence and quietness are a direct context of revelation of the Word of God, both in the Holy Scripture and liturgy. Through silence and quietness God prepares a man for listening and contemplation of the Word of God and the best example of this situation is Mary. Gospel is born in silence of Nazareth, Bethlehem and Golgotha. It is silence and quietness that enwraps Resurrection. Silence and quietness are a part of Gospel and therefore are also a part of preaching. Jesus’ silence in his death on the cross and in his resurrection confirms in a mysterious way Christ’s silence in the sacraments, especially in the Eucharist. Silent presence of God receives now a new sacramental meaning which is exhibited in liturgy. We can enumerate four functions of silence in liturgy: reflexive (providing awareness), meditative, interiorising (inward-directed) and adorative. In preaching these are mainly reflexive and meditative functions that play an important role.
Silence and quietness in preaching are signs of a liturgical communication between God and man. In this pattern a vital role is performed by a celebrant and a preacher who introduces, interprets and co-creates „moments of silence” in the Holy Spirit. Silence is a condition of a man’s openness to listening to the Word of God and his silence is a response to the received Word. This liturgical silence is a dimension for the actions of the Holy Spirit, also during reading of the Word of God. A preacher can create „moments of silence” through usage of a logical and psychological pause, rhetorical questions or a prayerful ending of a sermon that does not necessarily have to end with the word „amen” but “a moment of silence” in the Holy Spirit.

THE UNIQUE DEVOTION OF THE MORNING PRAYER OF CHRISTMAS
Summary
„The Morning Prayer of the Christmas” – performed usually before the Shepherd’s Mass – is a unique devotion which prepares for the immediate celebration of the Nativity of the Lord. The structure of this devotion is based partially on the Liturgy of the Hours but the texts and melodies represent a folk tradition. The eldest known version of its text is from the first part of the XIX century (handwritten Kancjonał z Ligoty from 1832). The first known music written to the text is from the second part of the XIX century (Chorał do Kancjonału ks. Janusza from 1873). There is a superficial analogy between the Catholic devotion of „The Morning Prayer of the Christmas” and a popular Protestant matins, but they are essentially different. Nevertheless in both cases they express a strong devotional tradition popular, mainly, among the Christian communities of the Cieszyn Silesia.
