RECEPTION OF THE TEACHINGS OF JOHN PAUL II ON THE REDEMPTIVE SENSE OF SUFFERING IN POLISH SERMONS.
Summary
According to teaching of John Paul II looking at a reality of suffering in the perspective of a redemptive work of Jesus Christ is a vital moment which points at an essential correctness in presenting a sense of suffering. This is why it is around this view on the mystery of suffering a merit-related assessment of Polish preaching on the subject should be concentrated. Redemptive events are the basis for understanding a value of suffering which often touch human existence in a painful way.
Thought of John Paul II is harmonious with homilies which try to explain the sense of suffering in the light of the mystery of redemption. A very positive element on preaching is showing a reality of suffering in the light of Christ’s victory that was won in resurrection.
Among negative tendencies visible in the analysed homilies one should mention the fact that some preachers, looking for a sense of suffering in the light of faith, refer to the light that comes from the redemptive events only in a limited way, or show the value and meaning of the cross without their link to a soteriology. A serious weakness of many homilies is underlying the mystery of passion of Christ without its natural connection to the mystery of His resurrection. A certain group of authors cannot see a relation between the truth of a redemptive suffering and the truth of a primeval love of God for men.

THE PRESBYTERIAT IN SERVICE OF A COMMUNION IN LIGHT OF THE POST-COUNCIL TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH.
Summary
Contemporary ecclesiology postulates: „the Church as communion might be more clearly understood and concretely incorporated into life” (The Final Report of the Extraordinary Synod). This idea should pervade all actions of presbyters and influence a new style of priesthood. This is confirmed both by post-council teaching of the Church and the teaching of the Church in Poland. It was particularly developed in a post-synodal exhortation Pastores Dabo Vobis (1992) in which John Paul II emphasised that „the ecclesiology of communion becomes decisive for understanding the identity of the priest, his essential dignity, and his vocation and mission”. Other documents of Magisterium Ecclesiae followed this direction. Three documents of the Congregation for the Clergy deserve special attention: Directory on the Ministry and Life of Priests (1994), a letter The Priest and the Third Christian Millennium, Teacher of the Word, Minister of the Sacraments and Leader of the Community (1999) and an instruction The Priest, Pastor and Leader of the Parish Community (2002). Among Polish documents there are two written by the Second Polish Plenary Synod that deserve special attention: Needs and Tasks of a New Evangelisation at the Break of the Second and the Third Christian Millennium and Priesthood and Consecrated Life as Community of Life and Ministry with Christ. The documents emphasise that a priest should always remember that he „sanctifies himself by his care for a community which had been entrusted to him. This care should be manifested in being with a community and in a community”. Therefore the synod suggests that „in nominating parish priests one should take into account not so much and not only seniority and achievements but practical pastoral skills, especially the ability of team-work and a social sensitivity”.

CATECHESIS INTRODUCING THE CHILD TO THE SACRAMENTS OF PENANCE AND OF THE EUCHARIST IN THE LIGHT OF THE POST-VATICAN II DOCUMENTS OF THE CHURCH
The reflection taken up in this article shows that the documents of the Church which have been published after the II Vatican Council are a rich source of information concerning the preparation of children to the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation and to the Sacrament of the Eucharist. In Church teaching after the Council we find not only indicated the content, which should be present in the preparation of children to Penance and the Eucharist, but also its forms and method. The documents of the Church generally outline a certain program or direction of sacramental formation, so the demands given need to be supplemented by a catechetical and pastoral reflection, which would lead to more detailed and practical suggetstions, possible to use in pastoral and catechetical ministry. Although each elaboration must take into consideration elements that are characteristic for the introdution formation of the child to the reality of Penance and the Eucharist, which - in accordance with requirements given in the Church documents after the Council - regard above all the following issues:
- the preparation of children to the Sacraments of Penance and of the Eucharist takes place through a number of stages, which can be called: far, close and direct;
- the formation of penance and eucharistic attitudes begins already in the first months and years of the children's lives, thus the important role of parents and family;
- in the process of introducing children to the reality of Penance and the Eucharist initiation catechesis has a principal role;
- on each of the stages of preparation one has to take into consideration the situation of the catechized, the level of personal development and family environment.

THE MYSTERY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE CATECHESIS FOR THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION.
Summary
Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the more important issuesof contemporary catechesis. In Poland many interesting programs directly concerning this preparation have been published. These differ between them on the level of substance and methods. Whatever a program is to be accepted, it must be remembered that the central theme of these encounters should be the mystery of the Holy Spirit. This mystery can be fathomed from different sides and in many ways, but always with the use of biblical sources, patristic sources, the teaching of the Church and the rich theological reflectionthatis available. In the context of Confirmation especially important are the issues concerning the presence and action of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the Church and in full Christian initiation; the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit; life in the power of the Holy Spirit in the contemporary world. These issues have been developed in this article, addressed above all to those responsible for the catechesis of those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

HAGIOGRAPHIC KEY TO THE NEW EVANGELISM
Summary
The author of the article points to a hagiographic key for interpretation of a programme for a new evangelism. An analysis of the idea ‘communion of saints’ has aided in his discovery, focusing attention on a new approach (hagiographic) in the interpretation of the Bible and centering on the saints as icons of the new evangelism. The saints show the way for effective realisation of the program for a new evangelism, for which confirmation we have no further to look than the statements of Benedict XVI and Francis. The saints become the real protagonists of the new evangelism and challenge us to follow their lives and mission in the Church. This appeal is a challenge for contemporary pastors, catechists and teachers to reach for the personal examples of the saints and the blessed of the Church in teaching and their intercession for the realisation of sharing the faith.

TRANSMISSION OF FAITH TO THE YOUNG GENERATION IN THE PERIOD OF IIND REPUBLIC OF POLAND – „CATECHETICAL AND EDUCATIONAL MONTHLY MAGAZINE” 1918–1939
Summary
The articles published in the Catechetical and Educational Monthly Magazine present the pastoral activity in Polish schools in the interwar period of the 20th century. Proclaiming of faith to students took place during religious education classes within school pastoral care, in parishes and in church organizations. In the twenties, differences in the way of teaching as well as in its level were clear what resulted from historical conditions. Discussions on the curricula of religious education placed in the magazine prove priests’ commitment to the pastoral care of youth. The insight on the Bible was one of the elements, but it is the Catechism that formed the basis of faith contents passed. During religious education classes, the attention was paid not only to religious knowledge, but also to the formation of faith attitudes among children and young people.

Detrimental interfamily interactions in the context of civilizational transformations
Summary
A contemporary family bears the consequences of the universal affirmation of individualism, laxism and consumerism. Consequently, alternatives for the home are boldly searched for, demolishing at the same time the traditional social order. The author discusses the most disturbing interfamilial phenomena associated with relationships. These are: the tendencies to compete; aggressive interactions; lack of desired mutual cross-references because of absence; individualism; superficiality of interactions between members of the household; inadequate communication in the family house; the growing manipulation in mutual relations; interactions resulting from co-addiction; “insulation relationships”; mediatization of mutual interpersonal relationships; interactions resulting from the permutations of roles in the family and toxic relationships as a result of atrophy of the family bonds. The article concludes with a proposal of a remedial program.

What about parish catechesis in The Church in Poland
Summary
Lack of parish religious education in Poland should be seen as a failure that is now bringing negative consequences. It is already a common belief, even among those who had originally been staunch advocates of the catechesis, that the so called religious education in schools has not brought the expected results. It has not become an effective element or means of development of faith among the younger generation of Poles. If it somehow manages to be successful it is to a negligible extent. Lack of religious education in parishes renders it impossible to fully form an adult, in particular while taking up and bringing into fruition the family catechesis. Furthermore, it goes without saying that young generations cannot be competently educated the Christian way without the input from their families. Understandably, adult catechesis will not become a panacea for the educational accomplishment of adults and children as well as the young people. Nevertheless, the presence of catechesis considerably increases the chances of more effective impact on education of children and young people alike. Only the parish catechesis is able to ensure the creation of the comprehensive and integral program of the development of Christian life.

DIE ÖKOLOGIE IN DER CHRISTLICHEN BERUFUNG. EINE PASTORALE REFLEXION AUS DER INSPIRATION DER LEHRE VON JOHANNES PAUL II
In dem theologischen Beitrag unter dem Titel Die Ökologie in der christlichen Beru-fung. Eine Pastorale Reflexion aus der Inspiration der Lehre von Johannes Paul II, habe ich die gegenwärtigen Fragen des kreativen Einsatzes der Leien in der Welt mit der Berück-sichtigung der "Neuigkeiten" der ökologischen Wissenschaft dargestellt. Nach der Präsenta-tion der theologischen Antropologie habe ich die großen ökologischen Herausfoderungen bei der Verwirklichung der christlichen Berufung in der Welt gezeigt. Die besondere Auf-merksamkeit widmete ich dem Verhältnis zwischen der Laien und dem irdischen Leben und dem Zusammenhang zwischen der geistlichen und menschlichen Formung im Bezug auf die Gesundheit des Menschen. Die existenzielle Lage der Leien mit ihren vielen verschie-denen Schichten bedarf der Weisheit des Lichtes und der Welt - besonders bei der Verwirk-lichung der christlichen Berufung. Am Ende der Reflexion wir stark betont, das die Ökolo-gie ein menschliches Gesicht haben must und zu einer Art der ökologischen Bekehrung führen soll. Gemäß der Lehre von Johannes Paul II kann nur eine so verstandene Ökologie zu einer würdigen Existenz aller Geschöpfe beitragen. Sie must das große Gut des Lebens, jedes Lebens, achten und eine ganz besondere Verantwortung für seinen Lebensraum tra-gen, und dies nicht nur in Bezug auf die Gegenwart, sondern auch auf die künftigen Gene-rationen hin. Summary
The present article is concerned with a multi-dimensional analysis of the problems of friendship, which was conducted by Pope Benedict XVI at the initial stage of his papal teaching. Pope Ratzinger made numerous references to the ancient writer Sallust’s famous adage „Idem velle atque idem nolle”. The Pope bases his vision of amor amicitiae on the foundation of God (Christ), which leads to friendship with everyone loved by God. The paragon of friendship is the Good Samaritan from the Gospel.
