DIE FRÖMMIGKEIT DER OBERSCHLESICHEN PILGER AN DER WENDE DES XIX UND XX JAHRHUNDERTS
Die Frömmigkeit vieler oberschlesischen Pilger an der Wende des XIX und XX Jahr-hunderts war stark im "Genius loci" der Pilgerorte verankert, wobei sich and die Spitze Marienwallfahrtsorte (Kalvarien) schoben. Die Pilgerorte im religiösen Bewusstsein des oberschlesischen Volkes waren dank Gottes Vorsehung ausgewählt. Sie erschienen als Orte besonderer Gnaden, sozialer Verbundenheit und Freiheit, des Gebetes und der Freude. Solche Orte findet man sowohl in Nieder- wie auch Ober-schlesien. Das wichtigste ist aber das religiöse Erleben am heiligen Ort. Die Eucharistie füllt den heiligen Ort aus. Mit der Stärke der Eucharistie ist die Kirche als Gottes Volk "gewachsen" und "zusammengewachsen". Diese sich am Pilgerort bauende Kirche wurde zum "eklesialen" Gär-stoff der Familien, und so auch der Pfarrgemeinden. Diese sich bauende Kirche war auch ein Zeichen der eschatologischen Einigkeit, die uns Himmel erwartet - in Verbundenheit mit Gott. Im Pilgerphänomen kommt auch die eschatologische, Marien- und Passions Dimension zum Vorschein, durch welche sich die Kirche in Oberschlesien selbst realisierte.

JOHN PAUL II ON THE SACRED SPACE OF PILGRIMAGE
Every pilgrimage is a unique religious act happening in the space between a permanent dwelling place and a sanctuary. The author analyses a letter by John Paul II "On pilgrimage to the places related to the history of redemption" published in the context of the Great Jubilee 2000, as well as several other papal documents in which the theology of space is developed. He also refers to the biblical texts of the Old and New Testament. The Son of God accepted a human body, and this took place in a specific geographical space which was charged by God's very presence. These places are witnesses to the redemptive acts. They are also places where God wishes to bless His people with extraordinary grace. They are sanctuaries, temples consecrated in a ceremonious way, places of apparitions and mira-cles approved by the Church. For centuries men experience a strong desire to "see God's face" in a visible dimension. Guided by faith people discover God's presence in certain places and decide to go on a pilgrimage to experience God's closeness and receive His grace. The ministry should provide support in people's trials to get closer to God during pilgrimages by emphasising signs allowing to discover the presence of the Holy One as well as by an adequate catechesis that provides initiation into appropriate contemplation of symbols.

LAS PEREGRINACIONES DE JUAN PABLO II A LA LUZ DE LOS SANDEOS DE OPINIÓN PÚBLICA
Las peregrinaciones del Papa Juan Pablo II tuvieron no sólo el valor eclesiástico-pastoral. Muchos de los estractos sociales también mostraban su interés hacia tales fenómenos. Lo confirma, entre otras cosas, la práctica de publicar los informes de las encuestas realizadas con estos motivos. Con el tiempo, tales informes se convirtieron en una fuente de las informaciones sobre la importancia de las peregrinaciones para las autoridades, al mismo tiempo presentando la actitud de la sociedad polaca ante el fenómeno de las visitas del Papa a su patria.
