Summary
Education cannot be reduced to information and should guarantee to the students and their parents the freedom of making axiological decisions and solutions. The above mentioned right is confirmed by the right of parents to raise their children according to their own conceptions. In the contemporary chaos of values and principles of education the Catholic education remains a topical, interesting and important proposal for school.

Youth under multiple Manipulation
Summary
The publication focuses on the manipulation of today’s youth as well as of their affairs. The first area concerns multiple methods of “attracting” young people to secular culture and pseudoculture. This is caused primarily by social fashion factors. It is also a strong area of nearly complete demoralization. The second area concerns medialization of the youth. This world appears in the media as a world of “computer people” and participation in “the network”. This applies above all to Facebook. The publication refers to earlier works by Ben Mezrich and Even Baileyn. Another important element of taking control over young people today is the area of economy. The author highlights the fact, that young people enter the labour market with greater difficulties compared to the older generation. This generation is seeking for livelihood and development in their work. Changes in the area of economy are forcing young people to reject the fixed both post-Marxism, and Taylorism, since both of them are ruthless for the young people. This is mainly due to the economic manipulation to which young people are powerless.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OF SCHOOL CHILDREN AND STUDENTS IN THE TERRITORY OF POLAND IN THE LATE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURIES IN THE LIGHT OF LITERATURE AND MEMOIR WRTINGS.
Summary
The research objective of the article is to show the methods and forms of religious education of school children and students in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the territory of Poland based on fiction and memoir writings. Religious instruction teachers were responsible for teaching religion at schools. Some of them conducted classes in accordance with the teaching methodology; they were able to make students interested in religious matters, and they were treated as authorities and became their students’ spiritual mentors. Others did not contribute much to the religious and moral shaping of young people, due to the lack of teaching skills or appropriate knowledge, or because they treated their duties carelessly. The authorities representing foreign rule in the territory of Poland, by treating religion instrumentally, forced students to various religious practices, which created a negative effect, and turned the students off religion and the Church. Many students were deep believers and practicing Catholics. However, lack of proper educational impact caused some students’ difficulties with faith. Some of them even considered themselves atheists. The source material presented in the article can also be instructive for contemporary teachers of religious education.

Youth Ministry in Germany: An Evergreen with ever new aspects
Summary
In Germany, the youth ministry is a thematic field that is reflected in various different ways since the time of the Second Vatican Council. This paper responds to these different types of reflections and develops a few pastoral-theological accesses. The German dioceses adopted on the Synod of Würzburg (1971 to 1975) a resolution about aims and assignments of the youth ministry of the Church. In 1991 the German Conference of Bishops publishes leading guidelines for the youth ministry. The aim of both papers of the Church is to lay the foundations of a theory of the youth ministry. This theory should be of good service to the practical pastoral service. Its theological foundations include anthropological (adolescents and young adults are the subject of the youth ministry), ecclesiological (the pastoral service is nourished by the act of being sent, i.e. its mission) and christological (God’s work is directly performed in the lives of young people). This paper reflects about this theology in an exemplary way by discussing three cases: First, it contemplates the service of altar servers in German parishes; second, it treats the theory of the school ministry and, third and finally, it deals with the pastoral activities of a spiritual community.

THE ACTIVITY OF THE LVIV CIRCLE OF PRIESTS-PREFECTS IN THE PERIOD OF IIND REPUBLIC OF POLAND. „CATECHETICAL AND EDUCATIONAL MONTHLY MAGAZINE” 1919–1939
Summary
Priests-Prefects’Association operated in Poland in the years 1919–1939. Their members were priests who were teaching religious education and did the pastoral work in the school environment. Articles presented in Catechetical and Educational Monthly Magazine show the work of priests in the Association. The aim of the activity of the Association was to introduce the idea of the catholic upbringing and to exchange experiences. The Lviv Circle of Priests-Prefects was one of the biggest in the country and the work of the priests was a guiding light for the others. The priests met on weekly meetings where they read their papers out. The main issue of them was their pastoral work at school. In the Circle there were three sections. Their members in detail discussed issues concerning state primary and secondary schools and Marian Sodalities.

CHALLENGES FACING MINISTRY TODAY
Summary
In the face of cultural, economic and social changes a question arises about the shape of the ministry of the word. The article presents a reflection on believers’ religious expectations. One of their expectations is a thorough and exhaustive explanation of the content of the Christian faith. A starting point for such reflection is understanding that Christianity is not ‚the religion of the Book’ but‚ the religion of the word of God’. It should be underlined that the central point of the Christian faith is the person of Triune God, who, in incarnated Christ revealed His mystery. This assumption requires conscious actions, which, on the one hand, will shape the believers’ correct image of God, and, on the other hand, will teach them how to use the sources of faith, which make this image clearer.
Another important factor is teaching believers how to use both natural cognition and religious cognition, which together help to discover that the centre of the Christian message is the prophecy of the Kingdom of God initiated in the person of Jesus Christ. Church actively promotes the message of salvation. Catechesis and religious upbringing play an especially important role in spreading this message, as they aim at shaping and upbringing a human being who respects the divine law.

FORMATION TOWARDS PARISH COMMUNITY AS THE GOAL OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS.
Summary
The article entitled „Formation Towards Parish Community as the Goal of Religious Education in Schools” is an attempt to describe the role and meaning of religious education in the process of making the parish into a community. The author proves that the religious education inschools can greatly influence to transform the parish into community and the meaning of catechetical instruction cannot be diminished. This analysis is based on the correlation between the catechetical teachingin schools and the pastoral-catechetical activity in the parish. Fr. W. Osial relates first how the catechetical task of formation towards the community is viewed in the documents of the Church. The documents say that this is one of the six fundamental goals of catechesis. The second part of the article is an analysis of the content and forms of education for the community. Numerous and specific examples of the catechetical activity inschools are presented here and are divided into short and long-term (based on the formation in various religious groups) activities. In the last part the author explores the question of the role of the teacher in the process of drawing the pupils into the parish. The teacher’s attitude is one of the most important factors in influencing the participation of young people in the initiatives directed to them. The teacher’s importance as a role model is also stressed, as well as his personal engagement and openness to the problems of youth.

SUPPORTING ROLE OF CATHOLIC MAGAZINES IN RAISING CHILDREN IN THE FAITH
Summary
The article is showing the possibility of exploiting numerous advantages of children’s religious magazines at the Christian body. Starting from guidelines of the programme first periodicals for children, is analysing present values of magazines addressed to this group of recipients. Against this background it is portraying the prominence of religious magazines. Next a degree of the execution of the fundamental tasks of catechesis – promoting knowledge of the faith, liturgical education, moral formation, teaching to pray, education for community life and missionary initiation on pages of chosen periodicals for children. Recapitulating the supporting role of magazines in bringing up in the faith, it is appointing children for applying them in employing the family for the Christian body. In conclusion he is giving specific possibilities of using magazines in school teaching the religion, including correlation between religion and education.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FAITH OF PARENTS IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OF CHILDREN
Summary
The faith of parents is an important factor to be taken into account while weighing the problem of educating children. The parent’s part in religious upbringing of their children is constant meeting the challenges which are the consequence of the sacrament of baptism and the tasks it imposes. The problem is vital, because in the process of religious upbringing the parents should be witnesses, not only instructors. The child’s faith is built on the faith of his parents, who, in their lives, should be authentic witnesses of their faith. They should create appropriate situations that may stimulate their children’s willingness to meet God. Simultaneously, they should observe their children’s spiritual development, without using any forms of pressure. The parent’s faith is an example for a young growing person how to get to know God. Christian parents should not only talk about Christ, but also let their children know Him through their own testimony of life and love.
