THE CONCEPTION OF HUMAN WORK ACCORDING TO ST. THOMAS AQUINAS
St. Thomas deals in his different writings about human work using various terms for it. The most used term is "labor" and beside this there are many others as "operatio", "actio", "opus", "factio", "ars", "contemplatio". The analysis of these terms and their contexts shows, that human work is ontologically tied to the phenomenon of life and being and therefore it is a movement. This movement arises from the actualisation of forces latent in nature and owing to an intended release of action in man. The deepest source of human work is the potentiality or in other terms, the possibility of development of the human nature. The function of work is to release or actuate this potentiality in nature and in man. Work implies the element of creative effort which is undertaken by man according to God's injunction. The element of physical tiredness is connected to the effort; it requires the renewal of forces by rest. This effort in work decreases the more the element which animates and moves man, coordinates and takes possesion of the sphere of executive powers. Each human work contains at least an implicite aim which represents a good. The degree of perfection of the product proves the degree of perfection of the work. The intellectual and valuating factor plays here a fundamental part. St. Thomas emphasises that the personel character of human work constitutes its essential feature. The definition of human work according to St. Thomas' writings would be: human work is a creative intended and conscious effort of the person intending to good, which has a social importance .

Twórczość etyczna Tadeusza Ślipki SJ (ur. 1918) wpisuje się w wybitne osiągnięcia polskiego tomizmu. Badania nad sferą deontologiczną etyki doprowadziły Ślipkę do stworzenia pojęcia "fenomenu deontycznego". Ów fenomen obejmuje z jednej strony imperatyw określonego działania, a z drugiej - prawo oparte na tym imperatywie oraz odpowiadający temu prawu obowiązek. Fenomen deontyczny stanowi esencjalny składnik porządku etycznego i pozostaje w ścisłej relacji aksjologicznej ze światem wartości. Absolutny charakter norm moralnych, opartych na prawie naturalnym, odwołuje się do równie absolutnego charakteru wartości moralnych.g

Esoteric Morality versus Catholic Ethics
The theory of esoteric morality developed on the basis of utilitarian ethics tries to realize a postulate that ethics should have, above all, practical application. The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question whether this theory may become a common ethical position of two distant views on morality - utilitarianism and personalism, and whether the attempts to justify esoteric morality with arguments that are closer to the Catholic ethics are correct. The article engages in a polemic with examples of such apparent consensus, and also indicates the position of the Catholic ethics towards the esoteric morality.

Sous les termes de «sélection ou prédétermination du sexe», on désigne les procédures qui donnent aux parents la possibilité, respectivement, de prédéterminer et de chosir le sexe de l’enfant à naître. La situation n’est pas encore bien définie, dans cet article l’auteur a limité à quelques considèrations sur: (1) les raisons qui motivent ce type de demande; (2) les méthodes appliquées jusqu’à présent; (3) la licéité de prédétermination du sexe de la part des parents.

Bl. John Henry Cardinal Newman’s (1801-1890) theology of conscience. Summary
Newman’s teaching of conscience unites originality and continuity. His originality manifests itself especially with regard to the Catholic theology of his era. Through his Anglican background, Newman belonged to a culture and the philosophical tradition, each of which was growing apart from the Catholic Church. Through dialogue – and often polemic – with his contemporaries, he was successful in handing on in a new language the contents of the faith and of religious experience, used concepts drawn from his own time, although not without renewing them profoundly.

GRUNDENTSCHEIDUNG UND KONKRETE SITTLICHE ENTSCHEIDUNGEN
Wenn die Grundentscheidung nicht immer die Ganzheit der menschlichen Existenz logisch und eindeutig einordnen zu lassen vermag, so darf auch die moralische Bewertung des menschlichen Verhaltens nicht nur von ihr, sondern auch von einzelnen, objektiv betrachteten Taten, abhängen. Zweifellos, der Theorie der Grundentscheidung geht es darum, Eindimensionalität des sittlichen Aktes zu überwinden und dieser als ganzheitliche Struktur, in der sowohl objektive wie auch subjektive Momente der Sittlichkeit erfasst worden sind, zu besinnen. Hier liegt auch der Grund dafür, dass die Transzendentalität und Kategorialität des sittlichen Aktes, als für sich einander komplementären Ausdrucksweisen des moralischen Dynamismus der menschlichen Person, anzusehen sind. Es muss jedoch auch daran gedacht werden, dass jeder Mensch eine bestimmte, ontologische Struktur innehat, auf die sich die Wirkungsstruktur der menschlichen Vorgänge stützt. Das bedeutet, dass die rechtmässigen anthropologischen und metaphysischen Voraussetzungen für die Grundentscheidung, ihr legitimes Verständnis und berechtigte praktische Anwendung im moralischen Leben, implizieren sollen. Wenn jedoch die christliche Moral, allein im Bereich der Grundentscheidung eingeschlossen und auf sie allein reduziert werden sollte, so entstünde eine reale Gefahr, das integrale Wesen der Sittlichkeit, wo der subjektive Moment in den objektiven eingeschrieben wird, verlieren zu lassen. Somit bleibt das Kategoriale des sittlichen Vorgehens des Menschen als Kennzeichen zur Bewertung der Grundentscheidung: ob sie sich fundamental für oder gegen Gott richtet?

„Freedom in the Internet” and the Integral Development of a Human Person – Infoethical Explorations
Often some Internet users are demanding "freedom of the Internet", which is understood as unlimited access to the network and its data; as the right to freely exploit resources on the Internet. Infoethical analyses based on anthropological assumptions prove that such reasoning is incorrect. It can be the cause of degradation of society and identity disorder of Internet users. Whereas the law, which is based on truth, is the right tool to bring the order and progress of society. Such a law also stimulates the integral development of a human person. There is no legitimate reason to treat the Internet as an enclave of absolute freedom.
